Set against the scenic splendor of the High Peaks, the award winning Lake Placid Club is the only forty-five hole golf club in the Adirondacks. Our fully irrigated Links Course, our Mountain Course and our Executive Nine enable Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club to offer guaranteed tee times and "shot gun" starts for our resort guests.
Corporate Meetings & Incentives magazine has recognized the Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club as a Golden Links Certified Facility - providing groups with a quality golfing experience. The Crowne Plaza Resort & Golf Club is one of only four resorts in New York state to be awarded this distinction.
The championship Lake Placid Club Links Course was designed by the master Scottish golf instructor Seymour Dunn who designed golf courses in both America and Europe. Among his best-known designs is the Royal County Down in Ireland, ranked one of the top ten courses in the world. And Dunn remained true to his origins with the design of the Lake Placid Club Links Course: authentic links style with wide open fairways and large undulating greens.
The championship Lake Placid Club Mountain Course was laid out in 1910 by Alexander H. Findlay from Scotland, one of the first pioneers of golf in America. In 1931 the Lake Placid Club Mountain Course was remodelled by Alister MacKenzie, perhaps the most famous architect of the Golden Age of Golf Design. Dr. MacKenzie was the consulting architect for the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland, as well as Cypress Point, and Augusta National, home of "The Masters". The Lake Placid Club Mountain Course, laid out with smaller greens and more tree-lined fairways, begs for the straight shot.
The Lake Placid Club Executive Nine winds up the trio of courses at our Resort. The Lake Placid Club Executive Nine, a little slice of golf heaven with seven par 3's and two par 4's, is as wonderful for the beginner as it is for the accomplished player who wishes to hone his short iron game.
